Gyedong Nyila

Gyedong Nyila [Tib. rgyas stong snying lags] was the wife of (Amdo) Gyedong Tsering (H.0026). In this interview, she talks about her husband's involvement in the Second People's Association, including going on the Association's welcome delegation to Dartsedo in 1955. [Note: Nyila was basically a term of address for the wives of traders, but was also used in a manner similar to wife or Mrs. In this case, she is Mrs. Gyedong]. She also discusses her husband's contacts with Phala and Phala's contact with Jenkhentsisum, and especially her husband's work of secretly taking the Association's documents to Jenkhentsisum in India in 1956. She also talks about Alo Chöndze's detention and her role in talking letters and messages to him from her husband in India and about the conflict between Alo Chöndze and Jenkhentsisum in India.
